Bill Johnson, Director of Instruction at Del Rio Country Club, is a PGA Class A member with 31 years of coaching and teaching experience. Bill was Northern California Teacher of the Year in 2013 and honored in 2011 by Nike as the Junior Golf Leader of the Year. Previously, Bill was recognized as one of the top nine elite instructors in the Northern California Golf Guide in 2005, and awarded as one of the top 50 instructors in California in the August 2001 issue of Golf Digest.
Bill’s expertise and versatile teaching style is one of a kind. He thrives for the game of golf and has a passion for helping his broad range of students discover their potential, improve their skills and accomplish their goals. His teaching repertoire includes private lessons, group lessons and clinics, playing lessons, Team Johnson (a Junior Development Program), exclusive golf outings and multiple day golf schools.
“What is one student’s antidote is another’s poison”. This is at the core of Bill’s teaching philosophy. With careful observation, adaptability and knowledge of technique, Bill creates unique and effective solutions specifically to meet the needs of each student.
Bill has developed over 50 junior golfers to the collegiate division 1 level. He also works with numerous players including PGA and LPGA tour professionals.
